After spending almost 15 years doing parent-led therapy in home, my wife and I launched a parent-led app (happyladders.com) launched two years ago to address this exact issue.

We’re seeing the same results as Huey. Parents are spending about 42 minutes per week and their child gains an average of of 24+ developmental skills.

This is the way. Great to see others pushing the ball forward! Such a great option for so many families.

Thanks so much for sharing this, Sean. Just checked out Happy Ladders; love seeing more parent-led models designed from the ground up. The 42 min/week stat is super compelling.

Curious how you think about engagement and follow-through. What’s worked best for getting families to stick with it week over week?

Thanks, David. Yeah, that’s the funny part. We use behavioral strategies on the parents to help parents maintain momentum. Lots of reinforcement and other strategies.

Of course, the main reinforcer is their child making progress. 😃And if the parents have the capacity and inclination, it’s fairly easy to get momentum, especially considering it’s based around daily routines.

Not all parents stay engaged, like any app, but the ones that do see consistent progress.

Also it’s important to point out, “the app” is not the thing. Working with their child is, so some parents only use the app sparingly, as they need to which is kind of the point. 😃

Love that frame: behavioral strategies for the parents. A subtle but powerful shift. And totally agree; the app is the delivery mechanism, not the intervention itself. That nuance often gets lost in broader conversations around digital health, and even within some of the virtual ABA orgs I’ve diligenced in the past.

Thanks again for jumping in. Really glad to have your voice in this thread.

Thanks for highlighting a parent-led provider! I was not familiar with Huey and it’s great to see others leaning into it.
